ashes, arsenal and the rest....

first things first..after coming back home from engineering i have become a major sports addict. i have been spending a considerable number of hours of my already short day in front of the idiot box watching sports channels. these are the same channels which were mercilessly swapped for some music or movie channel.but now i find myself totally enthralled by the feats of andrew flintoff, thierry henri, kimi raikonnen and their likes.

well to start off with ashes...anybody who saw the second test match at edgbaston must have enjoyed the match till the very last minute. after superb performances by the english folks in the first innings, australia got a blow(literally) from the english pace attack. the aussies who claimed that the only thing that scared them was kevin pietersen's hairdresser were in a tense situation. but some how they staggered on, inching slowly but steadily towards victory. but for the prescence of a blond haired giant called andrew flintoff! flintoff's spell in the second innings was truly mind blowing.michael vaughn was very happy with way things were turning out, but much to his disappointment shane warne and bret lee stuck to the pitch like glue.then warne hit his own wicket and went back to the pavilion. micky kasprowicz tried to hold on and was scoring runs slowly but was caught behind by G.jones on the match winning delivery of the day by harmison. everyone will agree that what the world witnessed that day was one of the finest moments of test cricket and 100% entertainment.

the kick off to the english premier league started off with the FA community shield last sunday. the match was between the premiership champions Chelsea and the FA cup champions arsenal who happen to be arch rivals. the match started off and jose mourinho's current favourite Drogba scored a goal in the 8th minute. this virtually shattered the arsenal fans(including me). well, agreed it was a clumsy piece of defence from the gunners but still it can only be considered as a freak goal coz there was so little skill involved. if u look at the ball possession statistics arsenal had 61 % of the possession and were playing really well. but one has to agree that chelsea is a very bad team to play against. especially when they have scored and u havent. Drogba scored another goal later and Arsene wenger was seen pacing about the stands, visibly in great tension. arsenal hit back with a great goal from fabregas, but eventually went on to lose the match. Chelsea it seems is in the habit of winning, which i hope breaks soon. they may be good players but this time round they were plain lucky.

now to the amusing part... star sports starts to air TNA wrestling ...DESI STYLE!! the promos are hilarious with yankee beefcakes sayin dialogues like " toffee khayega??" , "abey pappu", "godi chadhega" etc. its definitely something to watch out for! i bet it will be more hilarious than any of the sit-coms u are watching nowadays...
will keep posting...so keep reading.
